Ron Chen, Ph.D., vice president of data science at Korro Bio, brings over 20 years of data science and informatics experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.
Prior to joining Korro, Ron was director of data science and scientific informatics at Merck, where he managed bioinformatics, genomic data management and image data analytics in support of early discovery and translational medicine. During his 18-year tenure with Merck, Ron played a key role in developing target & gene information systems, next-generation sequencing applications, cancer genomic analyses, immuno-oncology translational informatics and machine learning applications.
Earlier in his career, Ron was associate director of bioinformatics at DoubleTwist, a pioneering genomics company, where he led a bioinformatics team in annotating the human genome.
Ron holds a master’s degree in computer science and a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Louisiana.
